Trip Overview
One of the most popular treks in Garhwal Himlayas, Har-ki-Doon trek takes you to an elevation of 3556 mts. Har-ki-doon Valley is surrounded by thick Pine forests offering great views of the Himalayas. Thanks to the isolation that the valley offers, Har-ki-Dun is a great place for bird watchers and nature lovers.
With its astonishing natural beauty and moderate difficulty level, Har-ki-doon trekis an ideal trek for experienced as well as beginners alike.
Itinerary:
DAY 1: Arrive in Sankri
Arrive in Sankari by evening 5 PM. Either book Ex. Dehradun package or you can get a shared taxi or public transport for Sankri in Dehradun Bus Stand. Dehradun to Sankari is a 7-9 hour drive. Night stay in Hotel / Guest house.
DAY 2: Sankri - Taluka (12 Kms by Road), Taluka- Seema (12 kms trek)
We start early morning with a drive to Taluka, the starting point of trek. Post breakfast at Taluka, we start our trek towards Seema (2260m) and have packed lunch on the way. The path goes through dense forests of willows, chestnuts and walnuts. We cross few waterfalls on the way as well. Via Gangaar village we Reach Seema Camps by early evening. Overnight stay in tents.
DAY 3: Seema - Har ki Dun (14 kms trek)
We start in the morning from our overnight camping site and continue along the valley. We cross river Rupin on an angling bridge and trail climbs through fields offering some beautiful views of the Ruinsara valley and the peaks in the Banderpoonch range. The campsite is by the small stream with wonderful views. Peaks of Har Ki Dun and Swargarohini tower over our camps. Overnight in tents.
Day 4: Har Ki Dun - Jaundhar Glacier - Har ki Dun (15 Kms Trek)
Today we trek to Jaundhar glacier & come back to the camps early afternoon.
Day 5: Har ki Dun - Seema (14 kms trek)
Today we follow our same path back to Seema. Stay in Camps/Guest house
Day 6: Seema- Taluka (12 kms trek), Taluka- Sankri (15 kms by road)
After breakfast we will start trek and have packed lunch on way to Taluka. We reach there by afternoon. At Taluka we board cab for Sankri and reach there by 2 PM approx. Trip ends here.
