About Trivati Nath Temple
One of six temples in Bareilly dedicated to Lord Shiva; the Trivati Nath is perhaps the best maintained and most well-known. According to legend, Lord Shiva made himself apparent to a lowly Shepard here. The Shepard was tending his flocks and fell asleep under one of the trees where Shiva appeared to him in a dream and foretold the coming of beautiful Shiv Lings, (Hindu offering), and the Shepard awoke to find a Shiv Linga just near his feet at the foot of three banyan trees. Coincidental with the year of the Linga Shiv, this temple is said to have special significance and those who visit will have their true heart rewarded.
