About Naimisharanya (Neemsaar)
Naimisharanya (Neemsaar) is a small town in Sitapur district, around 90 km from Lucknow. It is one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage in Uttar Pradesh. This much visited holy place pays rich testimony to myths and legends connected with the Mahabharata. Legend has it that Chakra Tirth was the place where the 'Chakra' of the Hindu god Brahma stopped and entered earth, making the spot to be holy. It is also said that the most sacred books of Hindus, the "Purans", were written by Mahirshi Vyas at this holy place.
The temple complex is basically a round shaped holy water pond. This Sarovar (pond) is surrounded by some age old temples. Pilgrims horde this pool to take bath in its holy water and wash their sins away, particularly on Somvati Amavasya. It is said that the Piligrimage of Badrinath and Kedarnath is completed only after a visit to Naimisharanya. The Chakra Tirth temple overflowing with all that historical relevance is a serene place, with unparalleled positive energy and vibes.
