About Singampatti
Being considered as one of the 72 Palaiyams of Southern Tamilnadu, Singampatti was gifted to the founder of Singampatti Family, namely Apadhurhara Devar by a Pandyan King for overpowering the Kannada army from invading his kingdom. The founder comes under the Maravar sub caste of Tamilnadu. Singampatti Zamin headed nearly 24 out of 72 Palaiyams in southern Tamilnadu. The ancestors of Singampatti Zamin family played major role in opposing the British Raj in Tamilnadu. The palace of this Singampatti Zamin family is opened for public and people can get a feel how it would have been in ancient days.
