About Parakkottukavu Temple
The main deity of this temple is Goddess Bhagavathy. This temple is located some 400 meters away from Sri Vilwadrinath temple in Thiruvilwamala. The Poojas which are done to Goddess Bhagavathy is well conducted following all rites and rituals. Devotees offer a “Chuttuvilaku” to Goddess Bhagavathy to get their wishes fulfilled. Thalappoli is the much hyped festival celebrated in this temple. During the Thalappoli festival, Elephants which are ornate colorfully with clothes and jewels etc are taken in procession (like in “Thrissur Pooram Festival”). People will be awed by colorful Fireworks during the Festival night. Many people from all over Kerala come to Thiruvilwamala to be part of Parakkottukavu Thalappoli.
