About Bir
Bir is just 35 Km from Palampur offers a confluence of Buddhist Monasteries as well as modern day paragliding adventures. Bir gives a glimpse into the hill culture with mountains and tea gardens all around. It is a famous para gliding landing ground of all the launches from Billing which is 14 Km away from Bir. While at Bir simply indulge in experiencing the untouched nature and delightful mountains. Do visit the Bir Tibetan colony to get an insight about the Tibetian culture and to relish Tibetan cuisine.
There is a Buddhist monastery of some renown in the area. It’s located slightly out of Mandi, close to the village of Bajinath. In a more eastern style, the complex houses many thankaga paintings of interest and influence to the Tibetans where, it’s said, the temples designers and builders originated. Good for people wishing to enjoy Tibetan type Buddhism.
