The much famed Ambarnath Temple of Thane District is much sought after by Tourists who visit Thane. The temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva was built by King Chittaraja of Silhara Dynasty in 10th century. The temple is renowned for Hemandpati Style of architecture. Each and every block of black stones were carved out skillfully. This temple is one of the oldest temples. The flooring of Sanctum Sanctorum was constructed in uneven manner depicting the skin of tiger over which Lord Shiva sits. Also Mandap ceilings are decorated with intricate carvings and sculptures on the walls of the temple enthrall you.
