About Aru Valley

Aru the tributary of Lidder River flows across picturesque meadows and scintillating peaks. The small village situated on the banks of Aru River is termed as Aru Valley. The village is the base point from where the trekking to Kolohoi Glacier, Tarsar-Mansar Lake etc begins. Aru Valley has many hotels, huts and restaurant to facilitate the tourists. During winter the entire valley is thickly covered by snow. Thus many people get trained in skiing and heli-skiing in Aru Valley during winter. Horse riding and trout fishing are other activities which keeps you busy in Aru Valley. 20 alpine lakes, meadows, peaks etc are situated nearby Aru Valley. The Biosphere which houses some endangered species called "Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary" sprawls across some 511 square kilometers nearby the Aru Valley at an altitude of 3000 – 5245 m above sea level.
