About Jata Shankar
The Jata Shankar caves to have a legend associated to their origination. It is believed that Lord Shiva took refuge in here while trying to escape from a demon named Bhasmasura. The Jamba dwip originates from this cave. Jata Shankar's cave has a natural Shiva lingam. Most of the travelers get to seem to believe that snakes are carved in stones but what appear to be snakes are well known as Shiva's matted hair. The temple attracts thousands of tourists every year at the festival of Maha Shivratri.
