About Bada Ganpati
Like several other historical monuments built in Indore, the Bada Ganpati temple was also built by the Holkars. Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar built this temple in 1875. The temple houses a 25 ft statue of Lord Ganesh, one of the largest in the world. It is an interesting statue, because it is composed of various elements, including limestone, jaggery, fenugreek seeds, soil that is collected from several holy cities, holy water sourced from major holy places, among other things. It is located at a distance of 5 minutes from Indore airport.
