About Churdhar Sanctuary
Churdhar Sanctuary is located in Himachal Pradesh. The place got its name fromChurdhar Peak, which is the highest peak of outer Himalayas namely. The place has a temple for Lord Shiva who was called as Lord Shirgul Maharaj by local people. The place has much historical significance. It was from this place thatthe entire Himalayan mountain and its surrounding areas were surveyed by the George Everest, Surveyor General of India in 1834. Himalayan Black Bear, Langur, snow leopards, musk deer are much sighted in this sanctuary.
