About Butterfly Museum, Jones Estate
The Butterfly Museum at the Jones Estate is the fourth largest butterfly and moth collection in India.
Built by Frederic Smetacek Sr. the museum has over 2500 butterfly and moth specimens and over 1000 species of insects.
The mantelpiece of Fredy's Bungalow is a showcase for the late owner's butterfly collection.
Over 240 species of butterflies, of the 1300 found in India, are found in the Bhimtal region making it a butterfly lover's paradise.
