About Khawalung Monastery
Khawalung Monastery or Khawalung Tashi Choeling Monastery is a 20 minute walk from Boudnath. The beautiful monastery holds a rich buddhist culture. It includes a school for kids as well as serves as a teaching place for the monks where they get free food and clothing. One can come and sit here to meditate. The locals are very welcoming. If you want to get the first hand experience of the Nepalese culture then this is the place for you. There is nothing touristy about this place apart from the great view that it gives of the mountains.
