About Ceylon Tea Museum
A tea factory, a museum, a library and restaurant all housed into one. What more could you ask for?! The Ceylon Tea Museum is the place where you can find all of this and much more. A long shutdown factory, this place serves as a famous attraction in the Kandy city. It is an old but well maintained building and is known more as a tea factory than a museum. It is located in Hantane area of Kandy which is a 3km long hilly stretch.
It is very easy to reach the Ceylon museum and the route to this place is located through lush tea plantations. The four storied building exhibits the machinery used earlier. These machines belong to the colonial era and it is difficult to believe they can still work. There is a library which houses the auditorium that runs the audio visual programs. This place is worth a visit to learn about the whole tea making process.
The Ceylon Museum also provides a panoramic view of the Knuckle’s mountain range, Matale hills, and Hunnasgiriya site. The view from this spot if breathe taking. As one would expect, the Tea Museum does house the tea sales outlets from where you can purchase good quality tea.
This place has earned a lot of popularity among the tourists because of the exaggeration of the tea making process. It is a very refreshing experience to visit this green plantation place with its green surroundings!
