Detailed Overview:

Coorg also known as Scotland of India is famous for its coffee plantations. Being a part of the Western Ghats, Coorg is rich in flora and fauna. Madikeri is the heartland of Coorg region and was the seat of ruling dynasty. Misty hills, lush forest, tea and coffee plantation, orange groves, undulating streets and breathtaking views have made Coorg an unforgettable holiday destination.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1:

Meet at the Mercera Fort, and the tour starts and you will visit all these places mentioned below;

Abbey Falls:

Nestled near Madikeri, Abbey Falls stands surrounded by a blanket of greenery. It is also known as Abbi Falls. To reach the waterfall, you will have to drive up to its entrance and then cover a short distance on foot. Abbey Falls is an amazing tourist spot. The view of Abbey Falls from the hanging bridge is spellbinding

Raja Seat:

The Raja’s Seat in Madikeri town, the spot from where kings of yore watched sunsets with their consorts, could be considered as one of the most scenic spots in south India. The spot offers a breathtaking view of towering hills, green valleys, studded with paddy fields.

Omkareshwara temple:

The Omkareshwara Temple is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The specialty of the temple is that its construction reflects a mix of Gothic and Islamic styles. It is a popular religious destination of Coorg. The temple draws a large number of tourists and devotees regularly.

Raja’s tomb and fort:

The Raja's Tomb at Gaddige is a great place to learn about the history of Kodavas. The site contains three tombs that bear scars of an eventful past and still stand tall sharing the story of Kings of Coorg. The fort is atop an elevated ground, crowning Madikeri with its imposing structure. The original mud fort was rebuilt in stone by Tipu Sultan. Two life-size elephants made of mortar, catch the eye of the visitor on entering the Fort.

After visiting the places you will be dropped to the starting location.

Day 2:

Gather at the Mercera Fort and start the tour.

Dubare elephant camp:

The Dubare Elephant Camp is a must-experience for the elephant lover in you. Karnataka’s history with elephants, goes a long way back and currently the state’s Forest Department has about 150 elephants in various camps.

Chiklihole Reservoir:

A small reservoir that provides water to local farmers located between Governments reserved forest, 13 km from Kushalnagar. Chiklihole Dam is pleasant place who needs peace and relaxation. It is about 2 km inside the forest to get there. A remote place where no stores and no facilities, visitors should take food and snacks if want hang-out there

Harangi Dam:

Harangi dam also makes for an interesting visit. The dam has been built across the tributary of River Cauvery and has a height of 47 meters and length of 846 meters. It is one of the popular picnic spots with the mesmerizing natural setting and relaxed atmosphere.

Kaveri Nisasrgadhama:

It is a beautiful island formed by river Kaveri and it is located 2 km off the State Highway from Kushalanagar. The sprawling 64-acre nature resort which is surrounded by river Kaveri includes a deer park, orchidarium, and elephant and boat rides. This can be accessed by walking across a hanging bridge.

Namdroling Monastery:

Namdroling Monastery, situated at a distance of 60 km from the Kaveri Nisargadhama, is the largest teaching centre of the school of Tibetan Buddhism known as NyingmapaPopularly known as the 'Golden Temple', the Namdroling Monastery holds some excellent examples of Tibetan architecture and artwork, as seen with the elaborately decorated temple tower and ornate outer walls, intricately adorned with beautiful murals.
