Jodhpur City Guided Local Sightseeing Day Tour Overview.

  • Jodhpur was historically the capital of the Kingdom of Marwar, which is now part of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan. Its 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort is a former palace that’s now a museum, displaying weapons, paintings, and elaborate royal palanquins (sedan chairs). Set on a rocky outcrop, the fort overlooks the walled city, where many buildings are painted the city’s iconic shade of blue. Jodhpur is popularly known as the “Blue City” among people in Rajasthan and all over India. Jodhpur is surrounded by a huge fortress wall with bastions. The striking blue buildings in Jodhpur contrast sharply and beautifully with the neighboring Thar Desert. Why wait for exploration? Come for this great experience with us.

Jodhpur City Guided Local Sightseeing Day Tour Itinerary.

At the prebooked time, we'll pick you up from your hotel or your desired place in Jodhpur.

  • Mehrangarh Fort: The 5-kilometer-long majestic fort on a 125-meter-high hill is one of the most impressive & formidable structures. Although invincible from the outside, the defence has four gates approached by a winding road. Within the fort are some magnificent palaces with marvellously carved panels, latticed windows, and evocative names.
  • These are the Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Sileh Khana, & Daulat Khana. These palaces house a fabulous collection of trappings of Indian royalty, including a superb collection of palanquins, elephant howdahs, miniature paintings of various schools, musical instruments, and costumes.
  • Jaswant Thada: The imposing white marble memorial marks the site of a royal crematorium. It houses portraits of successive rulers. The four cenotaphs around here commemorate notable acts of bravery and generosity by the four successive rulers.
  • Umaid Bhawan Palace: This exquisite palace is also known as Chittar Palace because of the local chitterstone used. It is a splendid example of Indo-colonial art and the deco style of the 1930s. A unique feature of this palace is that the hand-chiselled sandstone blocks have been put together in a unique interlocking system: there is no mortar binding.
  • Mandore Garden: Mandore, located about 9 km north of the main Jodhpur city, was once the capital of the kingdom of Marwar before Rao Jodha moved it to Mehrangarh and the newly founded city of Jodhpur. This proud village was home to a substantially large fort and township. After subsequently moving to Jodhpur and the declining importance of Mandore, it did not see the sort of progress as did Mehrangarh. So, all that remains today are some assorted buildings and the exquisite Mandore Garden.
  • Clock Tower & Sadar Market: The clock tower is a popular landmark in the old city. The vibrant Sardar Market is close to the tower, and narrow alleys lead from here to a bazaar selling vegetables, spices, Indian sweets, textiles, silver, and handicrafts. It is a great place to ramble around at leisure.
  • Lastly, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Jodhpur. If you wish, however, we can drop you off somewhere in the city center of Jodhpur instead—totally up to you.
