Kunzum Pass to Chandertaal Lake Trek

Chandertaal lake is accessible by road during summers. This road gets damaged due to excessive snowfall and has to be repaired every-year to resume traffic. Generally, Manali Kunzum Kaza road is opened first and then the Chandertaal road is cleared. When road till Kunzum Pass is open you can take your cars till Kunzum and then Trek to Chandertaal lake.

Kunzum Pass is the highest point on the Manali-Kaza Road, its about 15000 Feet (4590 mtr). There is trail ( to the right ) which starts near the Gompa at Kunzum Pass which will lead you to Chandertaal lake. Trek is around 10 Kms, first 2 kms is uphill and then gradual downhill till you reach the lake which is at 14000 feet (4300 mtr). You Get to see the lake after walking around 1km and then the lake is visible for most part of the trek.

During the trek you get the see the glaciers on your left. Some of them resembles the Highway lanes. Then you see the Samudri-Tapoo which is beyond Chandertaal lake on the left side of the lake. At multiple points during the trek you have to cross the glaciers and at times its slippery. Almost halfway you start to see the campsite and the parking which is close to the lake. This is the time when you feel at ease, lake is also clearly visible with blue water.

• Day1: Arrival in Manali + Manali Site Seeing
• Day2: Transfer from Manali >> Rohtang >> Chatru >> Batal (110 Km)
• Day3: Transfer to Kunzum Pass (15kms) + Trek to Chandertaal Lake (10 Kms)
• Day4: Transfer to Manali (125 Kms)
