About Sankoo
A small town located about 40 Kms from Kargil, Sankoo is one of the greenest expanse in whole of Ladakh giving it the name of 'Ladakhs Gulmarg'. Surrounded by rocky mountais and snowy summits, trees such as poplars, willows and myricarea line the hill slopes around the town. Not far from Sankoo, in Kartse village there is a 7 metre tall rock sculpture of Maitreya.
