For the love of stories

“To be a person is to have a story to tell”  Isak Dinesen

Stories play an important role in cultures around the world. Stories give meaning to our lives and allow us to connect with one another. While we are immersed in a story, we can see the world through someone else’s eyes. In Explorati, we share travel stories of real people for everyone to read, enjoy, and maybe, even get inspired.

Travel brings out the storyteller in all of us. And the beautiful thing is that no two stories are the same and each one deserves to be told. The stories we will share in the Explorati series are from the individuals that we connected with, who inspired us to see the world through their eyes.

Who is an Explorati?

An Explorati is an individual who has put their passion for travelling into action by building their lifestyle around travel while maintaining a healthy career. To understand Explorati better, it is also important to know what it is not. Explorati is not a reward nor an establishment. It is simply an individual with a story to tell.

Deciphering the Explorati identity

The Explorati symbol represents seeing into the traveller’s life through their stories. It is a symbol that is easy to remember and draw, whether on a beach in the Andamans or chalking it out on the face of a rock while on a trek.

We spent a lot of time thinking about what colour can represent the identity of the Explorati. We asked around within the team and group of friends, but it didn’t help. Our colour palette just kept getting bigger. That’s when we realized that everyone was going down memory lane and remembering their own travel experiences.

Just like the stories, each experience was different. And each experience had a different setting and made people feel a certain way. By itself, the Explorati symbol is black and white. But when coupled with a traveller’s story, the symbol takes on colour to resonate with the feel of the story.

When does it start?

Explorati will be an ongoing effort and we’ll be featuring travel stories regularly. For this month, we’ll be publishing four Explorati stories, with the first one coming out on 12th February and then one every month. I hope you enjoy each and every one of them.
