About Manipur Zoo
Manipur Zoo is situated around in Lamphelpat, 10 km from Imphal. This garden was inaugurated on 2nd October 1976 and spreads over 8 hectares. The garden is also known as the Jewel Box of Manipur. You can spot the Manipur agricultural university on the southern end of the garden and the rest of the neighborhood area is covered with paddy fields. The Manipur Zoological Gardens houses some of the most rare endangered animals and birds in the region. One of the rare species here is the Thiamin Deer. You can spot more than 56 different species of birds and around 400 animals at the garden.
