About Muktinath, Nepal
Situated at the base of Thorang la-pass, Muktinath is one of the most ancient and sacred shrines. It holds huge value for both Hindu’s and Buddhists.
It’s the focal point of Annapurna trek. One can reach here either by trekking or by jeep. Surrounded by beautiful landscape, this place receives many visitors thorough out the year. But the best time to visit this place is during Yartung festival which is marked by open gambling (though banned in Nepal) between April to May and October to November.
The temple has a golden human sixe statue of Lord Shiva. Not only this, there are many other statues of different idols here. It’s interesting to witness a monk nun doing the rituals instead of a priest.
