Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary is a one of its kind sanctuary, part arid and part seasonal wetland. Narayan Sarovar is located about 170 kms from Bhuj in North-west Kutch and it truly feels like an oasis in desert. It is home to 15 threatened species of wildlife and has numerous desert flora and biodiversity. Cheetah, chinkara, black bucks, striped hyena, caracal and the Great Indian Bustard are some of the wildlife species found here. Narayan Sarovar, one of the holy places of worship for Hindus is also located close by and attracts pilgrims from all over India. Bring your own food and water, and consider hiring a private vehicle in Bhuj so you can visit both Narayan Sarovar, nearby temples and the wildlife sanctuary.
The lake itself is considered as one of the five holy lakes for Hindus. The ancient lore surrounding the lake attracts hundreds of pilgrims here. There are several temples in the vicinity of Narayan Sarovar, and tourists also visit the nearby Koteshwar temple, located close to the Arabian Sea.
