★★★★★ ​We had an incredible time on our 5-day hike (Chogoria - Sirimon route). From the very beginning, the communication with Charles was super friendly and smooth, he answered all our questions very quickly. On the mountain, we were accompanied by an amazing local team of five. ​Everything was perfectly planned out and the team was always on time, which we really appreciated. Our guide, Leonard, was amazing; he knows practically every plant and animal species on the mountain and we always felt in very good hands with him. ​Our cook, George, was always smiling and the food was excellent. They really make sure you eat enough and that the meals are right for the high altitude. A special shout-out to Nelson, who looked after us so well at every camp and all the other porters, who did an amazing job as well. ​The landscape is just stunning. A huge highlight for us was the Mackinder Valley between Shipton's and Old Moses. The views and the giant plants there are something you have to see for yourself, very unique nature. ​By booking with them, you’re supporting a local, fair, and truly hardworking team rather than a big travel agency. All in all, it was an amazing experience and we gained so much from this trip. We would definitely do it again!

★★★★★ This is a scam. They provided "offer" via TourHQ for a 2-day trip from Nairobi to Ngare Ndare and Mt. Kenya, Ol Pejeta and back, I specifically highlighted that I need to catch a flight upon my return. So, the "offer" came in. They quoted public transportation (which is unreliable and does not serve Ngare Ndare nor Mt. Kenya nor Ol Pejeta. Suggested I do my hotel bookings as this is "not included", nor are entry fees included, nor meals. Essentially only "support with public transportation" (worth $70 return) and guiding. Aaaaaaand The cost is 838. For 2 days. You read that right. 350+ USD for a guide. I'm sure that would be the president of Kenya as guides elsewhere are about 1/10th of that cost. I wonder though why would I travel on public transportation for 2 days to meet the president of Kenya guiding me through the forest. Puzzled.

★★★★★ From the very beginning, communication with Charles, the director, was excellent — clear, reassuring, and perfectly organized. And indeed, everything ran flawlessly, from pickup in Nairobi to the very last moment of the trek. Tilman Safaris is the ideal company for people who truly love the mountains and care about an authentic experience. They are also a genuinely ethical company that treats guides and porters with real respect — something that mattered greatly to us and was evident every day on the mountain. The gear provided was excellent (very warm sleeping bags, solid tents that easily withstood heavy rain, and quality walking poles). Our lead guide Leonard was exceptional: kind, knowledgeable, calm, always smiling, and perfectly paced the climb so acclimatization was smooth and we summited comfortably. Taylor, the chef, prepared generous and delicious meals, and Nelson, Alan, and Jacob, our porters, were wonderful people and great company. By the end, we were proud to call the whole team our friends. Strong recommendation: book the full 5-day Chogoria–Sirimon route — essential for acclimatization and absolutely stunning, especially the Chogoria Bandas. This was the best trekking and climbing experience we’ve ever had. We also did a 3-day Samburu safari with Tilman's, which was fantastic (great guide, amazing wildlife, including a leopard). If you want an authentic, ethical, and unforgettable Mount Kenya experience, Tilman Safaris are the people to book with.

★★★★★ Highly recommended!! Communication and organizing was a breeze. We had an awesome time up on Mt. Kenya. The whole team was very kind, friendly, and fun to be around! They explained a lot about flora and fauna, and the food was delicious and plenty. Even when altitude sickness got the best of me, everyone was very supportive and helpful. I would 100% book again with them!
