Dholavira is as old as human civilization, perhaps. It is one of the five largest Harappan cities in the subcontinent and is under excavation by the Archaeological Survey of India since 1990. Locally known as Kotada (large fort), Dholavira is about 4-5 hours drive from Bhuj, but it is worth taking a trip to visit what was once the cradle of human civilization. There is a Gujarat Government guesthouse nearby where you can choose to spend the night. Visit the museum and enjoy the sun setting over the ancient ruins.
