Sri Lanka’s lesser known paradise – the Tangalle! The uncrowded beach here is one of the most enchanting places to spend a lazy holiday. However, for those who wish to go crazy doing water sports or enjoying buzzing nightlife, Tangalle is not the right place to come. Stretches of golden sand shimmer in the sun, tempting sunbathers to stretch out and bask in the heat. A small fresh water lagoon is present at one corner, where fishermen get to work in the late evenings and early morning.
The Tangalle beach is a great place to get to know and interact with the modest locals, who will definitely melt one’s heart with their interesting stories. Plenty of small shacks and eateries are scattered all over the beach, which serve sea food and refreshments like fresh coconut water. Days can be passed by slowly at the beach, by just reading, listening to music, playing volleyball and dipping into the ocean occasionally. At times the current gets strong, hence swimming is not an advisable option. For the lucky ones, a sea turtle may visit the beach to make nest and lay eggs; a wonderful incident to observe. Evening and morning strolls by the beach are a pleasure. Therefore, Tangalle beach is the perfect place to soak up the sun and let time fly by lazily.
