The latest attraction of New Digha is the newly established Marine Aquarium and Research Centre by the National Council of Science Museums. The research center is the Asia's largest Marine aquarium and was developed in 1989. The aquarium has a total of 32 tanks out of which 24 are big and 8 are small fresh water tanks. The water tanks are equipped with compressed air supply, light and regulated supply of water. The major aim of the research centre is to show the marine biodiversity of the region and communicate its standards to the common people and to carry out the research works.
