About Gelephu
Unlike many other cities which are either located in a valley or on a hill, Gelephu is located on the plains which makes it highly favourable for further commercial developments. It has a domestic airport and lies close to the bordering state of Assam. The district headquarters, Sarpang, is just 30 kilometres from this place. Gelephu is not mainly a tourist destination but is a gateway to many tourist places of the Central Bhutan. It is also a gateway to the Royal Manas National Park, oldest one of the country. This park has many species of flora and fauna that are very rare like golden langurs, Gangetic dolphins, and one horned rhinoceros. People of this country particularly come here to get themselves cured at a place called Gelephu Tsachu in winter. ‘Menchu' or Hot Stone Bath is also a speciality of this place though this curative method is practiced through out the country.
