About Swami Pushkarini Lake
Located within the main premises of the Thirumala Temple, Pushkarini Lake is the sacred lake. This lake is adjacent to Venkateshwara Temple and tourists take bath here before going to the temple. As per mythology, it was in this lake Lord Vishnu took bath along with his consort Sri Lakshmi Devi. Garuda created this Theertham and filled it with holy water.
Devotees believe a dip in Pushkarini Lake will cleanses all their sins. It is also said that whosoever takes bath in this holy lake is blessed and attains salvation. The water is believed to clean the sins of people. During Mukkoti Dwadasi, bathing in this lake is equivalent to taking a bath in the holy Ganges. The wooden float festival (Teppotsavam) held in February / March is one of the main attractions of this place.
