About Bardan Monastery
Dating back to 17th century Bardan Monastery or Bardang Gompa is located 12 KMs away from Padum in Zanskar. It belongs to the Dugpa-Kargyud monastic order. Bardan Monastery has a large Dukhang, assembly hall and all the other structures with the monastery are structured around the Dukhang. This monastery is famous for the ancient festival marks and the handsome copper prayer wheel. Many smaller monasteries come under this one.
