About Koh Kret Island
Koh Kret is an island village amidst the Chao Phraya River to the north of Bangkok city. It is enough to close to Bangkok, yet it is a completely different world. It is a great place to visit and to get lost in its laid-back atmosphere. If you know swimming, you can swim onto the other side of the river which is still pretty wide. Mon people from central Thailand and many people live here. You can walk through the island if you are game for some exercise as it is not so vast, or you can also rent a bicycle and wander around the island. The best time to roam around is weekend days when vendors take to the streets selling their exotic items. There are many snacks stores and boutiques and small shops to browse through. You will find all sorts of snacks including Thai Portuguese influenced dessert known as Foi Tong.
