Gir National Park, which is known worldwide for its national park and sanctuary, is a definite place in your Junagadh trip, situated at a distance of 60-65 km from Junagadh. You have so much flora and fauna around you, the birds and their count is mind-boggling. The Asiatic lions that are only found here, and not in all the world, are well preserved and have been taken well care of since the Nawabs’ times. The count of reservoirs, water bodies and dams made for the creatures to survive and remain in proper condition here is surprisingly enormous. The Gir forests have been blessed with rich biodiversity comprising 30 species of mammals, 310 species of birds and 25 species of reptiles and thousands of species of insects. The best time to visit the sanctuary between the months of December to April. It’s a day well spent!
