About Arignar Anna Zoological Park
Arignar Anna Zoological Park or Vandalur Zoo is located in Vandalur reserved forest area of suburban Chennai. The forest area is segregated for each group of animals and natural enclosures for animals are of trenched type of Islands. There are many species of mammals, reptiles and birds. The entire park is quite well maintained with modern and scientific equipment. Separate zoo kitchen and zoo hospital with quarantine facility are also special feature of Arignar Anna Zoological Park. The reserved forest area which spreads across 600 hectares has both natural and artificial greeneries. The zoological park also acts as conservation center and breeding center for rare species of animals. This zoological park also has an added feature of zoo school where classes and training for animal conservation is provided.
