Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is only about 30 Kms from Trivandrum and a great day trip option for wildlife enthusiasts. Built in 1914 by Maharajah Moolam Thirunal, Kowdiar Palace is one of the places to visit in Trivandrum.
Aruvikkara Dam constructed on Karamana River is only 15 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. Kanyakumari, the popular religious destination for most people on a South India trip is only 87 km from the city. Papanasam Beach in Varkala is one of the best beaches near Trivandrum. You can visit Vizhinjam, a small seaside town to get a glimpse of Kerala's coastal life.
The 16th Century Anjengo Fort built by East India Company is another place to visit around Trivandrum.
