Bhartrihari, the eminent bard whose famour works include Shringarshataka, Vairagyashataka, and Nitishataka stayed and meditated here. He is believed to tbe the step brother of Vikramaditya, and after renouncing his empire and wordly life he chose these caves as his abode.
