About Malshej Ghat

Nestled in Western GhatsMalshej Ghat is around 125 KMs, it’s not classed as actually within Punes city limits, but the Ghats need to be mentioned due to their sheer breathtaking beauty. Taking a visit to Pune and not visiting the Ghats, you would be missing out. A drive from Pune or an overnight stay, these are mountains green and lush, coated with cloud. Best visited in monsoon when the waterfalls are at their height. Malshej Ghat is popular weeknd destination for both citizens of Pune and Mumbai.

Malshej ghat is also very rich in flora and fauna, and is especially famous for Flamingos which can be seen near the water bodies.
Shivneri Fort, birthplace of Shivaji, is also nearby. The region also has Buddhist caves that belong to the 3rd century and Shri Vigneshwar Temple, which is situated near Junnar town.

The Ghats are notorious for landslides during monsoons. Be careful if you are planning a trip during rainy season.
