About Avantiswami Temple
Avantiswami Temple is located 28 km from Srinagar on the highway connecting Srinagar and Anantnag. This temple is named after King Awantivarman and has a Vishnu temple and Shiva temple. These temple ruins of Vishnu Temple were built in 9th century AD. Vishnu temple which is in ruins now was excavated in the 18th century. One can admire the Greek architectural style of construction as well as other intricately carved stone sculptures. Located bang on the road to Anantnag, this temple is not difficult to locate.
