It is situated on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh has more than two-thirds of the Sundarbans and the rest is in West Bengal, India. The area is known for its diverse range of fauna, including 35 species of reptiles, 270 bird species, and 42 species of mammals.
