About Thillai Nataraja Temple

The Thillai Nataraja Temple is a temple dedicated to Shiva. The temple was built mainly during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. There is a picturesque water feature that reflects the tapering structure of the main shrine. There are several interesting aspects of the temples structure. For example, the point where it is built is thought to be the center of the world’s magnetic equator.

The Natyanjali Annual Festival takes place at the end of February each year. Thousands of people come from India and worldwide to see the festival. The festival takes place at the Natajara temple. Classical Indian dancers from all over the country begin the festival every year on MahaShivaratri day. The festival lasts for five days.
