About Kodaikanal

Being one of the enticing hill stations in Tamil Nadu State of India, Kodaikanal is much sought after tourist spot in South India. Located on the sprawling Palani Hilly region, Kodaikanal is known for its verdancy. Its thick woody vegetation and rocky slopes make the place more suitable for trekkers. Lush greenery and chill climate makes this place a honeymooner’s haven. This hillock is famous for hill-plantain fruits and plums.  Kodaikanal is also well acclaimed for “Kurinji” flower which blooms once in 12 years. As per records, the flower has last bloomed in 2004. This town was developed by British people and missionaries from USA.

The grandiose Kodaikanal Lake is the main attraction here. Tourists can have some fun in boating on this lake. Beside this lake, one can also visit the Berijam Lake.  The Thalaiyar Falls and Bear Shola Falls are really breath taking. For being enthralled by picturesque view of the entire landscape, places to visit in Kodaikanal include Pillar rocks, Green Valley and Dolphin Nose. Kids can have a gala experience in Solar Physical Observatory, Telescope House and Shenbaganur Museum. Coaker’s walks and Bryant Park are the places where travelers can relax. Traveler’s seeking for spiritual encouragement can fulfill their trip to Kodaikanal by visiting the Kurinji Andavar Temple and Palani Temple. The Flower Show and the Boat Pageant in the Kodai Lake are the major crowd puller in Kodaikanal.

The trip is not complete until and unless we go for a shopping to some exotic souvenirs for our family and friends. One can purchase local handicrafts like walnut wood crafts, woolen clothes, eucalyptus oil, fresh homemade chocolates and Kodai Cheese. There are also a few Tibetan stalls on either side of the lake road. One can also shop for natural oils, herbs, spices and Kodaikanal Coffee beans in this hilly region.
