Madhav National Park situated in Shivapur near Gwalior is spread over an area of 355 km² and was setup in 1959. Madhav National Park has both lake and forest ecosystems which adds natural beauty to park. Before independence this park used to be a royal game reserve of the rulers of the region.
Madhav National Park is open throughout the year and has wild animals like Chinkara, Nilgai, Sambar, Blackbuck, Fox, Porcupine, Wolf, Wild dog, Sloth bear, Leopard and Chital etc. The lake inside the park has large number of crocodiles so crocodile safari is one of the famous activities in park. A wide variety of bird life including migratory birds is also present in park.
