About Changu Narayan Temple, Kathmandu

Changu Narayan Temple is an ancient temple located on a high hilltop, about 8 miles east of Kathmandu. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The pagoda style temple existed as early as 325 A.D acc to legends. The main architecture to see here are the historical pillar with numerous inscriptions, a garuda statue, and various statues of Hindu God dated back to 9th century. The complex of temple is surrounded by forest of Champ tree, which adds to the beauty of the temple. As the temple is situated on a hilltop, one can see the most beautiful view of the entire city.
