About Sharavathi Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Located very near the Jog Falls, the Sharavathi Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is worthy of a visit while at Jog Falls. Jog Falls are formed by Sharavathi river only. Linganamakki reservoir is a part of this sanctuary. This 431-kilometer mostly evergreen forest is in the Sharavathi River Basin and provides refuge to hundreds of birds, butterflies, and animals, including the endangered Lion-tailed macaque. 

Sanctuary is open through out the year.

There is a Rest House on the edge of the Linganamakki reservoir, about 3 KMs from the main road. One can also stay at Jog Falls or Sagar town.
