About Chandramouleshwara Temple
This 900 year old gorgeous temple is located nearby Unkal Lake on the suburbs of Hubli. The temple is the best work of Chalukya Era. This temple was built so that the temple sync with the lines of Temples in Badami, Aihole, and Pattadakal. Archaeological Department of India announced and protects this temple as National Monument. The entire walls made up of black granite stones have enormous sculptures on them. Visual treat for our eyes like Dancing Ganesha and Jalandhar are located in Chandramouleshwara Temple. The inscriptions which are found in Unkal Village states that the temple belongs to 11th or 12th century in Chalukya Era. In ancient times, this temple would have definitely proved the subjects how wealthy and mighty their rulers were. There are Two huge Shiva lingams in the temple.
