About Nanjangud
Nanjangud is located on the banks of River Kapila, 23 Km from Mysore, is famous for the Nanjundeshwara or Srikanteswara temple of Lord God Shiva. It is an architectural beauty of the Dravidan style and is rich with 200 shrines in the vicinity. Shiva and Parvathi are depicted in form of 121 statues. Another important place of attraction is Raghavendra Math which has a beautiful collection of Sanskrit manuscripts and copper plates. Another place of religious importance is the confluence of River Kapila and Gundlu where Lord Parshurama repented for the sin of beheading his mother.
