About Gwalior Fort
Some of great warriors Tatya Tope & Rani Laxmi Bai have used Gwalior Fort as battle station. It is well maintained and has many beautiful monuments like within its boundaries like Jain & Hindu Temples and many great palaces too. Spread across huge area of 3 sq km, this fort is made of red sandstone. It is one of the largest forts and a one of kind structure and every tourist must visit this beautiful place.
This fort was built in 8th century and is located on a hillock overlooking Gwalior all around. Fort has two parts, the main forts and palaces. Places were built by Raja Man Singh Tomar. The main gate of the fort is called Hathi Pul ("elephant gate") as elephant could pass through it.
