About

The Gorakhnath temple is named after Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, who is believed to have meditated at this place in the Treta Yug. The temple is 4 km away from the Gorakhpur railway station. Every year on Makar Sankranti a very large fair is organized within the premises of the temple. Millions of devotees and tourist visit the shrine during the fair. The temple has been under restoration from the time it has been built. The most famous feature in the temple is the idol of Lord Shiva meditating which is known as Garb Griha. The other attractions of the temple are Charan Paduka and Mansarovar Pond.
