About Rail Museum
The Rail Museum is about 1 km from the Gorakhpur railway station. The park lies next to the Gorakhpur Golf course. The museum had been inaugurated on 2 July 2007 and is one of a kind in Uttar Pradesh. The museum shows and explains the development of NERD technically, economically and culturally. The Lord Lawrence's Steam Engine, which had been built in London in 1874 was brought to India by sea, is kept here for display. The children can enjoy the toy train ride and has a unique food joint, which is in a railway compartment. The museum remains closed on Mondays.
