The Lingaraj Temple is the best example of majestic monuments inspired from Oriyan architectural style and artisanship. The edifice of the temple is 147 feet high, which is nestled by beautiful engraved walls and a number of shrines surrounding it. The temple is believed to be constructed by the ruler Yayati Kesari in the 7th century. The entrance to the temple is also grandiose; one has to pass through the Simaha Dwara to enter it.
