About Kangla Fort
Kangla Fort is situated on the banks of the Imphal River. The fort is also called as the 'Palace of Kangla'. The word Kangla means 'dry land'. This Fort was used as the royal palace of King Pakhangba in ancient times. The fort is surrounded by a moat and was under the control of Assam Rifles until 2003. The fort is open for public viewing. The fort has a rich amount of archaeological, religious and historical value.
