One of the 20 places of worship in the Chitradurga fort, Hidimbeshwar is the oldest temple on the hill and has the Mahabharata legend attached to it. This cave temple marvels sculptures curiously carved out of rock, as if the rocks were hiding the art inside them. The amazing temple intrinsically displays the Dravidian sculptures and contains a huge kettle drum which is believed to belong to Bhima.
The temple reflects a distinct culture thus being on the list of must-do pilgrims. If you’ve seen Hidimb’s sister’s temple in Manali, this one is worth a visit as well due to its intriguing nature.
